Café Sardine | Mile End, Montréal

September certainly flew by in no time this year! As much as possible I've been trying to enjoy the last of warm weather and seize every opportunity to work on some new photography material. Needless to say that my coffee intake has slightly increased as of late. I've always loved the design of Café Sardine and the last time I was there I finally got to take some shots of the interior. One of my favourite things about this café is the morning light that streams in through the front windows. Another favourite is the freshly baked donuts that they serve up daily. The flavour combinations never fail to impress me- chai, lavender, cranberry-orange to name a few. When they have two options on the go I suggest wasting no time trying to decide which one to choose- get both!

Café Sardine is located at 9 Fairmont West.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

Last week it was my friend Alex's birthday and we hosted a mad hatter's tea party in the park. The event was inspired by her grandmother's china tea set and included finger foods, mulled wine and of course, hats of unique proportions.

Joie de Lavande | Lavender Farm

Lavender has always been one of my favourite plants- its beauty, aroma, multiple uses and therapeutic qualities. I've had a life long dream to visit Provence, France so that I can wander through the endless rows of purple flowers lining the rolling landscape. One day (sigh).
In late July my friend Nicole and I took the day off and headed to a small lavender farm just east of Montréal. We chose to visit Joie de Lavande because of their 'approach' to lavender. They view lavender as not just a plant or product, but as an experience. They encourage visitors to come, get to know the plants, pick flowers, spend the day on the beautiful property swimming and picnicking and most importantly, relaxing. So this is just what we did... and what a wonderful day it was.
