Summer Part Three: Camping & Cottaging | July & August 2014

It feels like time to clear out the summer archives and share its memories before we move into the new season. Though at times it felt unsettling to be here and there this summer- well more there than here- looking back at these moments it was all worth it. When shooting film I always like reflecting on what I ended up spending a precious frame on. To be honest, sometimes I get why I took a certain photo and other times I can't remember at all. Regardless of my (lack of) memory, in the moment it must of felt right and usually nothing beats that.

West Coast Road Trip | Part Three | Seattle, WA

This post makes something very clear to me, I cannot visit a space that I find interesting and without taking photos of it. It's impossible (unless I don't have my camera)… I simply can't resist and better yet, I won't resist! This observation is not surprising given where my visual interests lie however, by creating this post, it caused me to reflect again on what attracts my eye and personal interest. On vacation most people take photos of important monuments and the food they enjoyed, which I do too, but just in smaller quantities I suppose. Really, it's the unique places that I want to remember. So here you have it, Seattle (the last stop on our road trip to the west coast) through the eyes of an aspiring interior photographer.

Places visited (top to bottom):
Anna's home
The Kingfish Cafe (best Southern food I've had in a non-Southern place)

ps. New travel goal = remember to take photos of the food because everything we ate was incredible and I don't have any visual proof of it.

Brunch Club | Dépanneur Le Pick Up

I've spent the past week driving through some of Canada's small towns as my friend and I make our way to the west coast. We've come to remember that there's nothing like places where everyone knows your name. One of my preferred ways to travel is to ask locals/or ex-locals what their favourite places and things to do are as a way to discover the hot spots. There are a few places in Montréal that embody a small town feel and Le Pick Up is one of them. Half dépanneur and half restaurant, it's one of a kind and is just the right spot for a post late-night out brunch. My top choices on the menu are the grilled halloumi cheese sandwich and (faux)-pulled pork (the perfect combo for sharing). The homemade baked goods are incredible and are a satisfying book-end to a great meal.
